JAZZ SOCIALS NOW AT SHANGHAI JAZZ
3:00pm to 5:30pm

NJJS in collaboration with Shanghai Jazz resumes its popular series of Sunday afternoon socials. You don't have to be a member to attend — but admission is free if you are. Come for the music programs, social hour, and fine food and drink.

Drinks and food will be available throughout the afternoon. NJJS members admitted free. $10 guest admission, which can be applied to a membership.

The program takes place between 3:00 P.M. and 5:30 P.M. These socials are proving to be both entertaining and educational. Please take advantage of this terrific benefit of NJJS membership.

Sunday October 23 — Ricky Riccardi, Author

Presentation and book signing with Ricky Riccardi featuring his recent book, “WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD: The Magic of Louis Armstrong’s Later Years. ”

Sunday November 20 — Scholarship Jazz Quartet

Performance by the Scholarship Jazz Quartet featuring NJJS jazz scholarship winners from around the college scene.

Sunday January 15 — Trombonist Jim Fryer Duo with pianist Gordon Webster

Renowned versatile jazz trombonist/educator/band leader/recording artist performs and interacts with the audience about his career and the current jazz scene.Emerging monster pianist Gordon Webster collaborates in tradition duet fashion. FREE to members, $10 for non-members (applicable towards membership of $40)

Sunday February 19 — Legendary Jazz Guitarist Al Caiola with Bassist Gary Mazzarappi

Renowned jazz guitarist performs and talks about his amazing 70 year career playing all over the world , recording 50 albums and working with many of the biggest names in jazz history and show business legends in general. The other half of the duo is bassist Gary Mazzarappi, one of the finest on the scene today. FREE to members, $10 for non-members (applicable towards$40 membership)

Sunday March 18 — Jay Leonhart Trio

World class  jazz bassist Jay Leonhart performs with his trio and sings his witty,story- telling songs.

Sunday April 22 — Roseanna Vitro and her jazz vocal students

2012 Grammy-nominated jazz vocalist Roseanna Vitro will perform along with her vocal jazz students from NJ City University. She will also relate her experience attending the Grammy festivities in Los Angeles

Sunday May 20 — Clarinetist Dave Bennett

Young clarinet phenomenon Dave Bennett will perform in duo with guitarist David O'Rourke. The Detroit based musician graces our presence due to an open day in his eastern tour schedule. Be prepared to be dazzled.
